Given the tough economic times, individuals are having difficulties paying their monthly mortgage payments. Understand that some mortgages, but not all, have “acceleration” provisions. If your mortgage contains such a provision and you miss a monthly payment, your lender may have the ability to require you to pay the full amount due and owing on your mortgage (and not just the payment you missed). Congratulations to Katie Stam of Seymour, Indiana for winning the Ms. America pageant this past Saturday!! Katie won the title of Ms. Indiana before entering the national contest, which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 22-year-old University of Indianapolis student overcame a throat infection and laryngitis in her quest to become the first Hoosier to be crowned Ms. America.

On January 21, 2009, the 77th Annual Meeting of the Greater Seymour Chamber of Commerce was held at the Evergreen Room in Seymour.  Congratulations to the following award winners for their achievements in 2008:
1.  Rising Star Award winners Chad and Kimberly Cooper, owners of Cooper Concrete in Seymour and Happy Herman’s Liquor Store in Brownstown.

I just read an interesting article on Foxnews.com which alleges that coffee drinking can lead to hallucinations. The article, found at http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,479872,00.html, states that research suggests that individuals who drink more than 7 cups of instant coffee have an increased tendency to hallucinate.
Apparently, the high caffeine intake can cause individuals to hear voices and sense the presence of non-existent people.

Most individuals do not understand the difference between a guardianship and a power of attorney. Both allow another individual to act on your behalf. Typically, the primary powers involved are financial and health care decisions. Therefore, both your guardian and your attorney-in-fact may have the ability to take care of your financial matters as well as make health care decisions for you.
The primary difference concerns the mental capacity or competency of an individual to appoint another to act on his or her behalf.
